The Might of the Quaggans

The quaggan are a peaceful people, with a culture very different from most of Tyria’s races, However, if there is one thing in Tyria you do not want angry, it’s a group of Quaggans!
They are armed with fangs, and claws, though usually hidden by their rounded bodies, even with this, they dislike the use of violence and are known to flee from their aggressors (krait, and dragon minions).

The quaggan are an amphibious race that often lives in rivers, lakes, and around the shoreline throughout most of Tyria. They are rounded, beaver-Dolphin-like creatures. In southern areas, their natural skin tone is a blend from a two-tone sea-blue on the back to pale grey along the belly; similar to a dolphin. In the north, they are black along the back and white along the belly; similar to an orca.
they make their homes in fresh, and salt waters, and even spend time on land, (though they can not for long as their skin dries out after about a day.) They are omnivorous and live primarily on harvested fish, coral and seaweed. Quaggans also lay eggs, and their young, referred to as hatchlings and calves, and are tended to by the entire community in a sheltered area.

The “transformation”

The quaggan transformation is caused by adrenaline spikes, thus, an angry, or abused quaggan in pain would likely transform and resist. Their body will become covered in a scaly armour they grow fangs, and claws their body shapes to a more fish-like structure and fins come out of their backs and tail. While in this state, instinct overcomes rational thought and the quaggan is driven only to destroy thinking nothing of tactics or collateral damage. Only a few quaggans are able to retain any control through this rage.
The transformation is referred to as the "rage," and any heroic quaggans who are able to be aggressive without losing control, are seen as odd by their society.

Many quaggans dislike the transformation thus avoid fighting at all costs.
They are so peaceful in fact, that they have been known to agree to an aggressor's terms simply to avoid conflict.

Quaggans are incredibly polite, so much so that they consider almost any self-reference to be offensive and self-centered. They hardly use self-referencing pronouns or names of their own kind, instead they often call themselves “quaggan” - when talking with other races, they tend to use the individual's name. They also like to use "oooo" sounds in their speech using words such as "foo" and "choo." This manner of speech leads many to assume the quaggans are childlike or less intelligent, where in fact they are actually quite wise but in ways that are different from most other races.
Quaggans are comfortable naked but wear clothing as a sign of individuality and pride. Normal quaggan clothing consists of scaly head-pieces with long, beaded harnesses around the upper chest and arms. They often adorn themselves with water-resistant feathers of colorful shorebirds.
Quaggan homes are round pods made of coral and seaweed. The pods are tethered to the ocean floor but can be easily towed to safer locations if needed. For light, quaggans use luminous pearls and phosphorescent algae.
The quaggan from the arctic seas hold Quaggan Games - a competition between multiple villages, which is held sacred and important to their villages and way of life

The way of life

Before being forced out of their old territories, the quaggans were governed by a leader referred to as a markissios. but since their central leadership was killed by the krait. They now work under the leadership of their village mayors, they call varonos. These varonos work with one another, offering help and supplies whenever possible, so the race is still friendly and interconnected. Quaggans have a simple belief which revolves around a single goddess known as Mellaggan, who represents the bounty and wealth of the ocean. Human scholars connect Mellaggan to their nature goddess, Melandru, because the quaggans use sunken temples of Melandru to worship Mellaggan, as well as other similarities. The quaggans do not believe the two to be the same but are too polite to openly disagree. The quaggan pastkeepers serve as priests and are responsible for the legends of each community of quaggans.

The quaggans lived mostly in the Unending Ocean and the unnamed seas to the north.
the Northern Quaggans were pushed down by Jormag, and the southern Quaggans were pushed up by the Krait (Who likely attacked because of the Deep Sea Dragon). Most records they keep of the past are about things like ancestry lines or “the good old days” when food was plentiful.
